We are a small group consisting of a petroleum landman and genealogy researchers with extensive experience in royalty title curative in the oil and gas field. RTC consist of three partners (Bob Phipps, Michael Smith, and Gabriel Hill). RTC was started by Bob Phipps who served in the navy for 21 years and then went to work as an independent petroleum landman in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Kansas for over 40 years. Bob and his wife Nayna retired to Kentucky in 1994. Nayna passed away in 2015 and instead of staring at four walls, he started back into researching and curing mineral interest properties. Bob soon recruited Michael Smith and Gabriel Hill. Michael Smith is an experienced mineral/royalty trader who has spearheaded numerous ownership transfers that have resulted in owners being placed in pay status with a myriad of oil companies. Gabriel Hill is a proficient researcher in both genealogy and mineral/royalty data.
We specialize in doing research for missing royalty owners – sometimes we start with an owner who lived in the mid to late 1800s. We then trace their genealogy to the current day all the while adhering to the appropriate Property Code for inheritance and estates. We then contact the heirs we have identified to see if they are interested in selling their mineral interest or working with us to cure the title into their names and have them placed in pay status with the oil and/or gas purchaser. Sometimes the interest is too small and we are only interested in purchasing. If you are one of the heirs that have been contacted by us, see the Title Curatives Services and Royalty Inheritance sections for more information.
We have cured many royalty titles and informed many individuals that they were owners of a mineral/royalty interest they most likely would never have known about. We have also worked with royalty owners who were aware of their royalty property but had no idea where to start to have their title cured or have their royalty interest placed in pay status.
